I agree with you that there should be equal access if there is to be access. I would just prefer to see the city to eliminate her link then ad mine (even though this could add even more readers to my page).

I just don't a benefit to the city that counters the potential risk to the city of allowing Mayor Purzner's site to remain linked and / or add other sites.

You right of course, all sides are better then just one side. I just think there should be no sides associated with the official city site.

Oh Sailor, I definitely agree. But, if they won't remove her links it presents just one side of the argument which is inherently unfair. Unfair to the entire citizenry, not just those making the alternative arguments.

Interesting alternative. Though I think that the potential legal entanglements that could come from linking to any outside blog or opinion site, be it The Overland Examiner or the Mayor's personal website should be considered.

In the end, I think it would be best if the city choose not to allow links to ANY political / opinion websites. It is simply safer.

After all, the city does not have to loose a lawsuit in court for the residents to loose. The cost of even a successful legal defense can be staggering.

Thanks, though I missed a few points I wanted to make so I went back and added them.

The first is that I think the city needs to insulate itself from the Mayors actions on her website. I think we need to remove all references to that site from the official site to avoid being sucked into more legal issues as those who have possibly been libeled there may choose to file suit.

Secondly, I added that to my knowledge, most if not all of the services she wants returned never had taxes specifically raised for the purpose of paying for those services.

Just a heads up to those who might have read the post when it was first published.
