The Mayor's recordings
The Mayor has another interesting item up on her website here. This time is it the vote on the General Revenue Budget at the August 14th 2006 Council Meeting. I am not sure what she sees wrong with this. 4 Councilman voted against passage of the EXACT SAME GENERAL REVENUE BUDGET that they voted against before. If the Mayor wants to try to get this Budget passed, she is going to have to accept the fact that negotiation and compromise are the only tools that can fix it. Perhaps the Mayor did not notice, but I noticed the HUGE cheer from the crowd then the Budget failed to pass. The public is obviously against this budget as well.
The Mayor's site goes on with the following:
It is important to note WARD 3 did not and has not received full representation on these important community concerns and budget votes. Ward 3 residents, as well as the residents of Overland as a whole have been denied the full and fair representation within their own local government which is their most basic right as citizens. Repeated votes have been taken to restore full representation to Ward 3, however on each and every occasion the appointees have been voted down repeatedly and consistently BY THE SAME FOUR INDIVIDUALS. (source)
What the Mayor fails to point our here is that she made no effort to educate our Council Members on Mr Blonden. She provided no information, he has not met anyone, and no one has any idea who he is. If I was on the Council and faced with a complete unknown like this I would vote no as well.
The Mayor also makes the point that this person has been voted down "repeatedly and consistently BY THE SAME FOUR INDIVIDUALS". Is that really a surprise when the Mayor as proposed the same person for appointment and provided no information or contact with him for the Council Members every time as well? What is wrong with this guy that you feel the need to hide him Mayor Purzner? Is he not able to speak for himself to the Council?
The Mayor said: "It is important to note WARD 3 did not and has not received full representation on these important community concerns and budget votes". That is true. However, at least 4 residents of Ward 3 submitted applications at the Mayor's request to fill the vacant seat in Ward 3. The Mayor has said repeatedly and consistently that she would not appoint any of them. What is wrong with these residents Mayor Purzner?
There is one more that is worth noting:
You can be assured we are working hard every day to stop their desires and intentions TO FUTHER "RE-ALLOCATE" EVEN MORE of our hard earned tax dollars for their pet projects, their special interests and the like....
What I find most interesting about this is that the Mayor is attempting to "Re-Allocate" funds in this budget she is promoting. There is no money to replace 4 police officers, 1 dispatcher and 2 public works employees. She is 'RE-ALLOCATING" that money to fund City run trash service that she will not, or cannot provide any hard information on.
- Is it really going to be as cheap as they say? (How can we know when they say they have not talked with any trash companies or received any bids?)
- Is the cost in the Budget for a FULL Fiscal Year?
- Does it include year round yard waste pickup?
- Does it include year round recycling pickup?
- Will it be unlimited trash pickup?
- Will it include large item special pickups?
How can anyone feel comfortable supporting a measure to keep our Police and City under staffed without any idea what the service they trade those people for will amount to?
Call Councilman May, Councilman O'Connell, Councilman Corcoran, and Councilman Schneider and let them know how much you appreciate them for standing up for the law and standing up against a budget full of unknowns.

6 Comments:
Blondin did appear at a City Hall council meeting back when he was first unknown, unrecognized and newly secret.
Somebody asked him what he stood for, to which he said something hollow, about like this: "What the people want."
Four vague, meaningless words. He echoed the Purzner mentality. Blondin therefore gave no indication that he has any original ideas.
Since then there was a letter in the Journal editorial page from somebody named Blondin. To me, the letter was rather unclear as to what side it was on.
Purzner is an example of an old quote I see now and then, goes like this:
"To keep doing the same thing over and over again, yet expecting different results, is a sign of insanity."
Nonetheless, it isn't insanity I see in this mayor's thoughts.
I do see stupidity, as the Logic and Language professor at UMSL might say.
How can somebody repeatedly ask others to vote for a secret, hidden unknown?
Nazrudin,
That is very similar to every school board race when folks run "For the kids".
I guess no ones at liberty to post right now on the other site. Duuuu, hello get a life, speak for your self not him or her!
The Mayor should have given up her place on the council, just like Conlon did.
Maybe there should be an ordinance stating if you are on the council and you want to run for Mayor you must give up your seat on the council.
If a person really thinks they could do better as Mayor, let them spend the money and run, should this person lose, they walk away from their Council money, at least
we wouldn't be making some lawyers a little richer.
This community cannot wait 3 and 1/2 years to get rid of this Mayor. It is evident Purzner and her supporters are complete and total failures. They made up lies to get elected but they don't have the talent, skills, education and understanding necessary to lead. I'm really disappointed with the whole council the only one I believe who is effective is Jeff O'Connell but then who can even have a chance at being effective when nothing is being accomplished. Conlon's loss was a loss for the entire city. I made the mistake of being on vacation and taking the vote for granted if me and our neighbors would have just gotten absentee ballots she would have won.
Anonymous, you are right about waiting, it's sad we have had to wait this long to start a recall.
I wonder if something is up with these peopleto hurt the City?
One cannot sit on a board of alderman/council for sixteen years and not know Roberts Rules of Order and how many people it takes to make a quorum.
The people who are giving the mayor advise have to be so dumb for telling her what she can do.
Are they really on her side? If they are her friends giving her advise, I'm sure she doesn't need emenies.
