Mayor want's us to pay her bills

The City Council Voted to NOT pay Mayor Ann Purzner's Private lawyer, Mr. Rudman's $4000.00 or so bill at the August 28th, 2006 City Council Meeting. The Vote was 5-2 against it. There was never a vote to authorize Mr. Rudman to represent the Mayor at the expense of the City, there is no contract between the City of Overland and Mr. Rudman, and there is no Ordinance authorizing Mr. Rudman to represent the city in anyway. Mayor Purzner has every right to have her own attorney, just as we all do. However, she does NOT have the right to ask all the residents to pay for it.

Yet Mayor Purzner, despite the vote of the council has submitted this bill to the City Accounting officer and demanded that it be paid. "we have to pay the bills" according to the Mayor.

Well, I have a few 100 hours invested in the website as a service to the City of Overland. Guess I should submit a bill, as it appears the Mayor will pay any bill regardless of lack of authorization and even in the face of a vote of the majority of the council not to do so.

Contact the Mayor today and let her know how you feel about her attempts to make you pay her bills:

Sailor,
Did the City Treasurer sign and mail the check to Purzner's Attorney?
I am sitting here shaking my head, my oh my oh my. Will this woman stop at nothing? What the devil is it going to take, for her to stop these shinanagins?

I don't know for sure, but I am confident that our City Treasurer would not sign a check like this as there is not official authorization (and there is a vote specifically against the payment of this), to pay this bill.

As I understand it, all check from the city require 2 signatures as a check and balance against misuse of funds. One signature required is the Mayor's, the other is the City Treasurer.

Nobody should be encouraged to misbehave, much less given license to do so. Paying for Ms Purzner's legal bills is insane.

Ms Purzner was not acting within her rights as mayor. She was refusing to respect lawfulness, with no sense of public service in her wrongdoings.

An invoice is not a court order.
Rudman wants money. He did not earn it in any sense of the term.
Rudman's arguments were all excuses from the minds and voices of Owensby, Knode and Purzner.

This is so ------ I don't even have a word for it.

There is absolutely no reason this law suit had to be.

In having the meeting in all three places the Mayor should have taken a vote of the residents attending the meetings as to which site they feel is better for the meetings. Thus making it look like she is their to do the will of the residents.

Do you think she might be getting a kick-back from these lawyers, or just plain enjoys spending our money.

One more thing, how long before the insurance company drops the insurance coverage because of too many law suits?
